Bihar's Saran district administration has dismissed the charges levelled against it by Rabri Devi, the RJD candidate from Saran and party chief Lalu Prasad's wife.
In her complaint to the election commission (EC), Devi had alleged breach of the standard operating procedure by the administration during checking of her vehicle near Sonepur, while she was returning to Patna in the wee hours of Sunday.
However, district magistrate Kundan Kumar has stated that the checking of Rabri's vehicle had been recorded on video and denied her allegation that her purse was checked.
In his report submitted to the EC through Bihar's chief electoral officer on Monday, Kumar also refuted Rabri's allegation that a black Scorpio was following her convoy with "sinister designs" of either eliminating her or planting cash in her vehicle.
The district magistrate said the vehicle had been requisitioned for election duty and was being used by cops.
Kumar also specified that his officers were prevented from searching the vehicle of her husband Lalu Prasad, who was following Rabri at some distance.
The report also mentions Prasad's verbal altercation and alleged misbehavior with district officials, including the sub-divisional officer and the sub-divisional police officer of Sonepur.
