Satyam CFO in judicial custody till January 23

The twin Raju brothers of Satyam fame, now cooling their heels in the general ward of Chanchalguda central jail, were joined by the erstwhile CFO of the company, Vadlamani Srinivas, reports Ashok Das.

Srinivas, who is considered a close confidant of Ramalinga Raju, was taken into the custody by CB-CID soon after the arrest of Raju on the night of Jan 9.The police produced him at the residence of the Sixth additional Chief Metropolitan magistrate D Ramakrishna in the evening, who send him to judicial remand till 23.

Srinivas was immediately taken to jail and was lodged in the same general ward where the two Raju brothers are lodged.

Bharat Kumar, who is also lawyer for Vadlamani, said that he would move bail petition for all his three clients first thing on Monday morning.

Jail sources said that Ramalinga Raju spent most part of the day confined to himself. In the morning he spent sometime talking with his brother. He had a frugal breakfast of Upma and had a light lunch of rice and mutton curry, standard fare on Sundays, from the jail kitchen. He has been given a dhurrie to spread on the platform and a bed sheet and a blanket to use while sleeping.

Meanwhile Satyam Computers in a statement said that it welcomed the Ministry of Corporate Affairs' appointment of three-member board of directors for the company. "This is a vital stabilizing development for Satyam, and it marks the beginning of a new chapter in the company's history. It is the best news we've received in the past four weeks," a company release stated.
