SC judge urges lawyers to desist from strike

SUPREME COURT judge Justice Dr AR Laxamanan has urged lawyers to desist from the practice of going on strike. He was addressing a programme organised by the Indian Council of Jurists to felicitate him at the Circuit House here on Saturday evening.

SUPREME COURT judge Justice Dr AR Laxamanan has urged lawyers to desist from the practice of going on strike. He was addressing a programme organised by the Indian Council of Jurists to felicitate him at the Circuit House here on Saturday evening.

There was no substitute for hard work in the profession of law, he said.“If you have normal faculties, intelligence, normal degree of honesty and integrity and earnestness for hard work, there can be no doubt, you will succeed in the profession.” 

On this occasion, two senior Judges of High Court Justice Dr BS Chauhan and Justice AK Yog welcomed Justice Laxmanan. It was the first visit of Justice Laxmanan to Allahabad. 

A scroll of honour was given to Justice Laxmanan by Advocate-General of Uttar Pradesh SMA Kazmi. Additional Advocate-General Adish C Agrawal conducted the programme.

Prominent among those who honoured Justice Laxmanan were former Bar Council of India chairman and senior advocate of Allahabad High Court VC Mishra, former advocate-generals and senior advocates SP Gupta and VB Upadhyaya, government advocate Vijay Shankar Mishra, chief standing counsel CB Yadav,  president of High Court Bar Association CL Pandey, president of Advocates’ Association Satish Trivedi, former Chairman of Bar Council of UP Shashi Kant Gupta, former vice-chiarman of Bar Council of UP Amrendra Nath Singh and many others.
