The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain a PIL seeking a CBI probe into grant of licenses by the Haryana Government to real estate developers, including the company with which Robert Vadra is associated, for developing colonies in the State.

A bench questioned the petitioner, advocate ML Sharma, for “targeting” Vadra in his PIL and said it won’t allow anybody “to destroy someone’s name.” Sharma wanted quashing of the CAG order that stopped audit inquiry against the colony licence issued to Skylight Hospitality Private Limited, which Vadra is reportedly associated with.

“Why did you choose just one person? Merely because one is related to a politician doesn’t entitle you to call him a sinner. The government gave license for land more than 21,000 acres,” the court asked Sharma. It termed his PIL as a “cheap publicity” stunt.

“They have declined to even give it to me under RTI,” he told the court.
