Scribe stabbed to death in Assam

Muslimuddin, the Morajhar-based correspondent of Assamese daily Pratidin, is murdered by unidentified persons in Nagaon.

"A journalist of a popular local daily was stabbed to death by unidentified persons in Assam's Nagaon," police said on Wednesday.

Thirty-year-old Muslimuddin, the Morajhar-based correspondent of Assamese daily "Pratidin" was seriously injured after been attacked with sharp weapons when he was returning from work late last night, the police said.

He died on the way to Gauhati Medical College Hospital.

Members of Nagaon Press Club condoled the death of the young scribe and submitted a memorandum to District Deputy Commissioner demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.

They claimed that the Muslimuddin could have been killed for his reportage in the local daily.
