Explosive experts along with sniffer dogs conducted a search at the New Jalpaiguri railway station on Monday night following intelligence reports that suspected ULFA terrorists with RDX-type explosives have sneaked into Siliguri to cause a blast at the station, but found nothing suspicious.
Superintendent of Railway police Mahendra Singh Punia supervised the search operation which started at 2200 hours at the station, railway sources said.
However, nothing was found during the two-hour long search operation, the sources said.
Train services remained unaffected at the station, they said.
Seven persons were killed when a blast, suspected to have been triggered by terrorists, ripped through a compartment of Haldibari-Siliguri passenger train at a place 22 km from Siliguri on November 20.
