Bhatia was addressing a programme organised by the Allahabad District Court Bar Association on the district court premises.

Addressing the gathering, Bhatia said that he was making efforts to launch a scheme for the welfare of junior lawyers.

He further said that he was elected to the Rajya Sabha on the strength of lawyers as legal community was behind him. He said that he would leave no stone unturned to fight for the welfare of lawyers in Parliament. He said that more and more lawyers should join politics as a lawyer joins politics for social change and not for any other purpose.

He said that the State Government, headed by UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav during its three years tenure, had given Rs 100 crore for lawyers’ welfare schemes.

Welcoming Bhatia, Vinod Chandra Dubey said that Bhatia always fought for lawyers’s welfare and would continue to do so in future.
