The second shooter, Pintu Singh alias Manoj Yadav, was flown in to Mumbai on Tuesday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had been looking for Yadav in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar since a fortnight. Yadav, who hails from Siwan in Bihar, was located in a jail in Devaria, Uttar Pradesh.

With Yadav’s arrest, the number of people held in the case has now gone up to six.

Lodged in jail in a case of possession of arms, Yadav has been brought on a transit warrant.

He will be produced in the Panvel court on Wednesday.

Besides Yadav, another shooter has been held in the murder case. The CBI has already arrested Dinesh Tiwari who is in judicial custody.

Additional Director of CBI (West and South zones) Balwinder Singh said some others are still wanted in the case. He, however, refused to give details about them.

CBI sources said they were on the lookout for a Bahujan Samaj Party worker from UP, Kailash Yadav, who had organised the shooters for the killing.

Jain has told the CBI, Manoj Yadav and Tiwari were paid Rs 4 lakh each for executing the killing and Pandey was paid Rs 7 lakh.

Asked about CBI’s failure to make Padmasinh Patil speak about his role in the murder, Singh said that they couldn’t extract a confession forcibly from any accused. “But we have other evidence,” he said without elaborating.

Asked if the CBI was not doing a narco test on Patil because he was an MP, Singh said that such tests are done when there is no clue. “Here we have vital clues,” he said. He, however, added that he was not saying the agency would not conduct such a test on Patil.
