Security arrangements tightened in Gorakhpur

THE DISTRICT Administration has tightened security arrangements at all strategic points in the city in view of the US warning about possible terrorist attack on the Independence Day. Armed forces were maintaining strict vigil at the Air Force station. Local police also conducted combing operations around the IAF stations and at Kusmi jungle. Round the clock surveillance was being maintained at the Air Force station and mobile teams had been deployed to maintain vigil round the clock in the area.

THE DISTRICT Administration has tightened security arrangements at all strategic points in the city in view of the US warning about possible terrorist attack on the Independence Day.

Armed forces were maintaining strict vigil at the Air Force station.

Local police also conducted combing operations around the IAF stations and at Kusmi jungle.

Round the clock surveillance was being maintained at the Air Force station and mobile teams had been deployed to maintain vigil round the clock in the area.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) had been entrusted with the task of maintaining security at the railway stations.

Metal detectors had been installed at the entry and exit points of the railway station along with deployment of dog squad and bomb squad. Security commissioner of NER Jaya Singh Chauhan directed the RPF and the GRP jawans to conduct random checking of the vehicles parked on the railway premises.

Deputy SP, GRP, Nand Kumar Yadav said three teams had been deployed to conduct surprise checking. They checked Amrapali Exp, Gorakhdham, Awadh Exp, Satyagarh Exp and Inter-City. Special measures had been taken to plug the loopholes if any in the security arrangement.

Police personnel were deployed at the Gorakhnath temple and bus stands to maintain vigil and to check the suspected people.

Passengers were advised not to touch any article lying unclaimed at the railway station. This year, people will celebrate the 59th Independence Day under tight security arrangements.

The General Manager, NER would hoist the Tricolour at Syed Modi Railway Stadium at 8 am tomorrow. Various programmes have been organised by the government and non-governmental organisation to mark the day.
