Security along the Indo-Bhutan border has been tightened in the run-up to the Republic Day following a spurt in violence in Assam, official sources said in Kokrajhar on Sunday.

The Indo-Bhutan border with this lower Assam district has been sealed and a strict vigil will be kept to prevent illegal movement along the border.

Section 144 CrPC has been imposed here and a BSF company has been already deployed along the Assam-West Bengal border.
The Unified Command has intensified operation in the area and security at sensitive installations will be beefed up, the sources said.
