Security was tightened all over Tamil Nadu as a special court in Coimbatore would begin pronouncing sentences in the 1998 serial blasts case from August 6.
Entire Coimbatore city would come under tight security blanket to prevent any untoward incident, Director General of Police D Mukherjee told reporters on Saturday.
Security would also be tightened in all major towns, including Chennai, he said.
The special court on August 1 found 153 accused guilty in the 1998 serial blasts case. Kerala-based PDP leader, Abdul Nasser Madhani was, however, acquitted of all charges, including conspiracy, and was released on bail.
On the recent finding of some rocket launchers off Kanyakumari coast, Mukherjee said some of them have been sent for testing.
"Investigations are on and anything conclusive would be known only after the test results are received," he said.
He said the crackdown on naxalite elements in the state would continue.
Two wanted naxalites have been arrested and efforts are on to nab others, he added.
