Police officials have sealed all entry points and stepped up vigil across the city.

Barricades have been put up at all state entry points.

Vehicles of people coming from adjoining areas like Ghaziabad, Noida and Gurgaon were being subjected to extensive searches.

With October 29 Delhi blasts still fresh in their mind, security officials are taking no chances.

The cops have enhanced surveillance across the capital.

Extensive searches were also being carried out along the Vijay Chowk-Red Fort stretch.

The R-Day parade would be witnessed by a host of dignitaries, including President APJ Abdul Kalam and Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the chief guest for this year's celebrations.

Intelligence agencies had picked up a lot of "terror chatter" in adjoining areas of Delhi prompting extra precaution by the security forces, police sources said.

Entire police force had been deployed and surprise checks were being carried out at crowded market places.

Metal detectors have been put up at railway stations and people entering the premises were being frisked.
