Photography is more than the click of a button, even with today's technology. To sensitise wannabe photographers to its nuances, professional and amateur experts are organising the first-ever 'Worldwide Photo Walk' in 200 cities on Saturday, including in Bangalore and Mumbai.
Organised by the US-based National Association of Photoshop Professionals which claims to have 70,000 members in 107 countries, the walk coincides with the worldwide release of 'Lightroom', a photography software programme developed by Adobe.
Bangalore-based Mahesh Shantaram and Mumbai's Jagdish Agarwal, both professional photographers, who are coordinating the walk in their cities, say the walk will help amateurs learn the art and professionals to re-learn.
"The photo walk is essentially a social event. The global exercise is to bring together amateurs and help them rediscover their own cities through their lenses," said Mahesh, who recently exhibited his works at Grosvenor Vadehra Gallery in London.
The Bangalore leg of the walk will be a three-hour affair with around 70 participants. At the end of the walk covering nearly three km in the heart of Bangalore, Mahesh will hold a free hands-on photo editing appreciation workshop.
"The Mumbai leg of the walk will see more than 30 amateur photographers starting their march from Jehangir Art Gallery and will end their three hour photography session near Bombay University at 7 pm," Jagdish, the photo walk leader of the Mumbai leg, told IANS on phone.

{{/usCountry}}Talking about the workshop, Mahesh said it would focus on editing details.
"Editing is not just manipulation. It is more than that. The workshop will attempt to teach new and latest facets about photography to amateurs in an innovative way," added the man who wants to turn the IT-hub into a photographers' paradise.
"Photography has always intrigued me, but unfortunately there's nowhere to go and learn the art. On Saturday I will participate in the photo walk and click as many pictures as possible and then attend the workshop," said 21-year-old management student and amateur photographer Rohit Sarma from Bangalore.
