Seers vow to take Jalsamadhi

SAINTS, DANDI SWAMIS and Dharmacharyas from across the country assembled on the bank of the Ganga on Saturday and vowed to take Jalsamadhi on December 25 if the flow of the Ganga was not restored by then.

Besides, they decided to open a new front to declare a holy war against the pollution of the Ganga.

An emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of Swami Narendra Giri, Mahant of Baghambari Gaddi, it was decided that they would rescue the holy Ganga from unholy pollution.

The saints also decided to launch a nationwide movement under the leadership of Swami Harchaitnaya Brahmchari of Tikarmafi Ashram.

Criticising the government for alleged overlooking of demands of Hindus to free the Ganga from pollution, Swami Bhaktmal of Ramanandcharya Math said that the saints would observe fast-unto-death after Dussehra.

Speaking on the occasion Swami Narendra Giri, Mahant of Baghambari Gaddi called upon people to extend support to save-Ganga agitation.

National convener of Maa Ganga Mukti Abhiyaan , Swami Harchaitnaya Brahmchari demanded immediate ban on all leather factories.

He said that government should ensure uninterrupted flow of Ganga in Prayag in the wake of Ardh Kumbh fair.

He announced that lakhs of saints and dharmacharyas would take Jalsamadhi on December 25 in protest against the government failure to accept their demand.
Swami Harichaitanya further said that despite budgetary allocation for Ardhkumbh, no concrete programme was made to free the Ganga from
pollution.
