THE NSUI City unit held demonstrations in front of the Mayor House and also at the IMC compound to protest against the obscene dance presented by Priti Bhalla and her troupe during the cultural night organised by the IMC at Gandhi Hall to mark Gudi Padwa.

Since NSUI had announced its intention yesterday, there was heavy police presence at the Mayor House. Led by Vivek Khandelwal and others, the NSUI activists were coming towards the Mayor House when police stopped them on the way.

There was minor scuffle after which the activists shouted slogans against the Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma. Another group led by Rajesh Hingwe staged demonstration on the IMC premises.

They took off their shirts and wore black bands on their body. They demanded action against those guilty of organising the function. The NSUI have announced that they are going to ‘purify’ by the Gandhi Hall by pouring Ganga Jal where the obscene dance was held.

Meanwhile, City Congress vice-president K K Mishra has termed the resignation by Shankar Lalwani, who organised the show, as a political stunt, and a result of political wrangling inside the BJP. Mishra said that if Lalwani owes moral responsibility, then he should resign for the Rs 33-crore pension scam.
