The Shiv Sena on Saturday came down heavily on Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for his 'demands' and warned that the nation will have to pay heavy price if Sayeed's 'poisonous' demands were fulfilled.
"Demanding the remains of Afzal Guru (a convict in terror attack on Parliament) is anti-national. Guru had committed a crime against the nation and showing sympathy to him would mean ridiculing the judgement of the supreme court and the Indian law," said an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Samna. The editorial is regarded as the opinion of Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
Soon after the PDP-BJP coalition government took charge in the state, a group of MLAs from Mufti's People's Democratic Party, had demanded that the mortal remains of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru be returned. Guru was hanged on February 9, 2013 inside Tihar Jail for his involvement in the December 2001 attack on Parliament.
The Saamna editorial has also targetted the BJP-PDP alliance in Jammu & Kashmir.
"The positive politics of BJP will create trouble for that party but it would pose danger to the nation. Those who know the reputation of Mufti Sayeed and his family would have never joined hands with them," said the hard- hitting editorial.

{{/usCountry}}It has alleged that Sayeed was never known to be pro-India but is someone who was in favour of Kashmir's independence and has sympathy for Pakistan.
The editorial has slammed the chief minister for giving credit for successful elections in Kashmir to Pakistan and terrorists. It was the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Election Commission and Indian Army who deserve the credit for the same, it said.
The Sena also said that Prime Minister Modi has announced that there would be no compromise on Kashmir and people should believe him.
The mouthpiece has alleged that the whole episode of kidnapping of Sayeed's daughter and release of Kashmiri terrorists to free her when he was union home minister was doubtful.
"Everybody including BJP had then raised doubts over the kidnapping drama. Sayeed was always sympathetic to terrorists," reads the article.
