Sensex closes at all-time high

Having gained almost 400 points in the last five trading sessions, the BSE-30 share index rises by 36.52 points to close at a new high of 13,505.89 points.

The benchmark index, Sensex, which gained 118.64 points in early trading to touch an all-time intra-session high of 13,588.01 points on Thursday, shed most of its gains on profit-taking by funds and investors and still closed 36 points up at 13,505.89.

The BSE-30 share index, which had gained almost 400 points in the last five trading sessions, rose by 36.52 points to close at a new high of 13,505.89 points. It also touched a low of 13,459.28 toward the close on profit-taking by funds in heavyweight stocks.

In likewise manner, the wide-based National Stock Exchange's index Nifty after crossing the 3,900 points mark for the first time, ended 0.55 point up at 3,876.85 points.

Banking and cement sectors stocks remained the centre of brisk activity during the session, helping Sensex to close in a positive zone.
