Sensex plunges 117 pts mid-way

As shares rose by 38 points by 1130 hrs, it failed to hold on to the gains, rolling down to reach 14,000.

The benchmark Sensex failed to hold early gains and rolled down by 117 points on Friday in a firm two-hour trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange on emergence of profit selling by funds.

The 30-share index, Sensex, which commenced the day with a gain of 38 points, plunged by 116.71 points at 13,855.32 at 1130 hours as most of the heavy-weights like Reliance Industries, Infosys Technologies and Bajaj Auto traded distinctly lower.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange's Nifty fell by 38,80 points at 3976.55. Though it started the day with a gain over 31 points.
