Sensex up 43 points in early trade

The BSE index gains more than 43 pts due to sustained buying by funds and retail investors in heavyweight stocks.

Continuing with its upward march, the benchmark Sensex gained more than 43 points in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday, on the back of sustained buying by funds and retail investors in heavyweight stocks.

The Sensex, which rose by 58 points yesterday, was up by another 43.67 points at 13,134.79 in the first five minutes of trade.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index, Nifty, gained 15.15 points at 3,806.35.

The major gainers were Bajaj Auto, ONGC, Tata Motors, Reliance Energy, Satyam Computer, ICICI Bank, Maruti Udyog, BHEL, Tata Steel, Dr Reddy's Lab, Ranbaxy and NTPC.
