Service week begins at Carmel Convent

CARMEL CONVENT School, Ratanpur celebrated the 137th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation with joy and fervour recently.

Amidst solemnity, a special prayer service rekindled tributes for the man who had all power to rewrite history. The song ‘Vaishnav Jayanti’ and ‘Raghu Pati Raghav’ were sung to remember Mahatma Gandhi.

Several colourful programmes, including a skit based on the autobiography of Gandhiji marked the occasion. Carmel Convent School, Ratanpur, principal Sister Pavithra accorded hearty tributes and commemorated Gandhiji’s contributions to the country’s freedom.

She stressed that it is the demand of the changing times that Satyagraha and non-violence be understood in the light of the present circumstances. The teachings of Mahatma Gandhi are timeless, she added.

It evoked the fervour of service to the society among the students and they took an oath to work for the unity and integrity of the nations. Service begins at home.

It was proved when all the students took initiative to cleaning the school ground and corridors. A group of students and teachers also visited Mother Teresa’s old age home at Jehangirabad.
