"Sex, um, success" and "footage of bondage...ahmm, Bondy" —Australian cricketers started their tour of New Zealand with two verbal slips. They are here to play a series of Twenty20 international matches.
Coach Tim Nielsen on arrival Wednesday said: “We haven’t had a lot of sex, um, success over here.” On Thursday, it was vice-captain Michael Clarke who got tongue-tied, New Zealand Herald reported.
When questioned about paceman Shane Bond, Clarke said he featured high on their game plan. “We’ll have a good look at footage of bondage... ahmm, Bondy,” said Clarke, amid chuckles. “Geez I feel like the coach, what’s going on,” Clarke continued with a grin.
He tried to get through the sentence again, concentrating hard on cleaning it up. “We’ll have a good look at footage of Shane Bond. But yeah he has got a lot of class,” Clarke said, joking as he left that he could just imagine what the front-pages of newspapers would look like after an accidental comment like that.
