A division bench comprising Justices Hakeem Imtiyaz and BA Kirmani said the CBI could seek the shifting of persons in politics, administration and police from their positions so that they are not able to hamper the process of investigation or tamper with the evidence.

It also said if required the court would examine the "advisability of assessing the level of accusations and requisite action in each case and pass appropriate orders".
