Confirming the move, Shah Rukh Khan said, “I have endorsed several brands so far and this is the first time that I am endorsing a computer brand. It is a good thing to add to my portfolio. Computers are a big hit with kids too.”

Compaq Presario was bought over by HP in 2001 and includes notebooks, PDAs and desktop computers.

While it is not clear what SRK is being paid for endorsing the brand, according to ad industry officials and media analysts, SRK is close to Big B and approximately charges anything between Rs 5 crore to 7 crore for brand endorsements.

SRK is purely looked upon as a true entertainer. “SRK connects well with the masses,” media analysts opine.

As a brand endorser, SRK appeals both to the masses as well as to the elite and not to miss the NRI audience, which is why he is endorsing both Tag Heuer and ICICI Bank and also Santro, which is an aspirational car, ad pundits opine.
