The PML-N has said that as per a "secret" agreement signed between the Pakistan administration and the party chief Nawaz Sharif in 2000, there would be no bar on the deposed PM to indulge in political activities in his second half of the 10-year long exile, once he shifted out of Saudi Arabia.
A party source on the condition of anonymity said that it had been agreed between the two sides that Sharif would spend the first five years of his exile at Jeddah and would not be allowed to take part in political activities.
But during the remaining five years of his 10-year exile, he would have the option to move to some other country, preferably London.
He could start political activities out of Saudi Arabia though under certain restrictions, but could not return to the country, the source added.
Quoting the unnamed source, The Nation reported that according to the terms and conditions of the 'accord', the Saudi government was to act as a guarantor that Nawaz Sharif would not make any attempt to return to Pakistan during his stay in Saudi Arabia.
According to the paper, Pakistan Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad's recent statement that government would counter Sharif's statements implied that there was no bar on him to do politics in London.
