Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) sources have revealed that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother and former Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif plan to contest the next year's general elections.

According to sources, while Nawaz plans to enter the National Assembly from NA-120 Lahore seat, the latter would contest from the NA-119 Lahore.

Shahbaz had forwarded a list of candidates for the elections and it was finalised at a special meeting on Saturday night at the residence of PML-N Lahore President Mian Marghoob Ahmad.

He confirmed that Shahbaz had sent a list of candidates to party leaders. Mian Mujtaba, Mian Tariq and Khawaja Imran also attended the meeting.

Shahbaz has not decide what provincial constituency he will stand from, the sources said, but he had directed the party to choose "new faces" for 90 per cent of the Punjab Assembly's seats.

Bilal Yasin, Ajasam Sharif and Sheikh Amjad Aziz were among those named as candidates for provincial assembly seats.
