Rajneesh Sharma, who died in police custody at Srinagar on October 6, was cremated after the locals including VHP activists ended their three days long agitation, following state governments' assurance of proper compensation and two jobs to the victim's family here last evening, official sources said.
Meanwhile, wife of the deceased, Aanchal who belonged to a Muslim family alleged that her parents had been opposing her marriage and hatched the conspiracy of killing her husband and bribed police in getting him eliminated.
Earlier, police had picked Sharma, in connection with the abduction the girl whom he had married, from his brother Pawan Sharma's house in Sarwal area of Jammu on the intervening night of September 29-30.
According to police, three policemen were suspended and a magisterial inquiry was ordered into the custodial death of the businessman who was found hanging in lock up in Srinagar's Ram Munshi Bagh police station.
However, a second autopsy was conducted in Government Medical College (GMC) hospital here after the family members pointed that his body was bearing torture marks.
