The family of Shubham Shirke, 15, who was abducted for ransom and murdered by three ‘friends’ including two Class 10 classmates on Saturday, wants the accused to get capital punishment.
“Though two of the three accused are minor, their act is unpardonable. I want to see all three hang,” Shubham’s mother Sunita Shirke told mediapersons on Monday between uncontrollable fits of sobbing.
The family is afraid the accused may receive political help and wants special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam — the prosecutor in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case — to be appointed in the case.
“Nikam should fight the case as public prosecutor,” said Shubham’s father Mahadev Shirke. One the two accused minors is the son of a former corporator. Both have been sent to a juvenile home. A local court has remanded the third accused, Amit Nair, 19, in police custody till April 5.
