Shiv Kumar Sharma to perform on Oct 15

MUSIC LOVERS of the city are in for a treat this month as the doyen of north Indian classical instrument Pandit Shiv KKmar Sharma will enthrall the audience along with tabla player Rimpa Siva at the second ?Idea Jalsa Series?. The ?Jalsa? will be hosted by Indian Music Academy in association with Idea Cellular at 6.30 pm at Yeshwant Club on October 15.

MUSIC LOVERS of the city are in for a treat this month as the doyen of north Indian classical instrument Pandit Shiv KKmar Sharma will enthrall the audience along with tabla player Rimpa Siva at the second ‘Idea Jalsa Series’. The ‘Jalsa’ will be hosted by Indian Music Academy in association with Idea Cellular at 6.30 pm at Yeshwant Club on October 15.

Academy spokesperson said here that the concert will be free of cost for all so that everyone can be a part of the assembly.

Followed by the concert will be the interactive music session to be addressed by the performing artists. This will help the general public to interact with the artists and understand music and the musician much better. It will help the music students of the city and also help the awareness of music in general.

The Academy was formed to promote and provide the young talent in the field of Indian music a platform to showcase their skills. The purpose of this academy is to motivate and inspire the younger generation to take up Indian Music as a profession and take pride in carrying on the Indian culture and traditional music. The objective also being to spread and popularize Indian Music around the globe.

Renowned classical singer Pandit Jasraj is the founder member of the Academy. The key patrons are Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Javed Akhtar, Ustad Zakir Hussain while Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Asha Bhosle, Dr Balmurli Krishna, Dr Lalgudi Jayraman, Pyarelal, Louis Banks, Lata Mangeshkar and Pandit Ravi Shankar being Honorary Patrons.

The Indian Music Academy has more than 100 members, the key members being Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik, U Shriniwas, Shankar Mahadavan, Ehsaan, Loy, Jatin-Lalit, Aman and Ayan Ali Bangash, Taufiq Qureshi and many others. Industrialist Ajay Pirmal has extended to lend a support to the Academy as well.
