After a long spell of sultry weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh the weather Gods are set to shower relief from Monday. While the week would begin with mild rainfall at certain places, there would be heavy showers from mid-week that would gradually intensify. Although people are scared of heavy rain, particularly after the Uttarakhand tragedy, Met experts say there is no need to worry, as the intensity of rain would not reach dangerous levels.

State Met director JP Gupta said, “Rainfall activity would gradually increase in the state. Beginning with very mild showers at uncertain locations, it would start picking up from Wednesday onwards.”

Sunday remained hot and humid with maximum temperature rising to 36.6 degrees celsius in Lucknow, which was normal. Minimum temperature was 26.6 degrees. Humidity, as high as 92 per cent and 86 per cent, was recorded on the day. “The humidity is becoming tortuous now and must lead to rainfall. We are eagerly waiting to be drenched in rain that will bring relief from the humid conditions,” said Sumit, a student.
