The Oversight Group will report on the status of rehabilitation of Project Affected Families (PAFs) to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh through Water Resources Ministry. The Shunglu Group, among other things, will ascertain the number of PAFs who will suffer due to submergence caused by raising dam height.

It will estimate, on the basis of sample checks, the number of PAFs who may not have received so far, in full measure, the resettlement and rehabilitation package as per the norms laid down by Narmada Water Dispute Tribunal Award and the Supreme Court orders.

The Group will also ascertain on the basis of sample checks, if offers of alternate land to eligible oustees were made in fair and transparent manner and further ascertain if such offers were voluntarily refused by oustees who preferred to accept the special rehabilitation package of MP Government.

The Group has sought detailed PAF account between the elevation level of 110.64 meters and 121.92 meters from Narmada Valley Development Authority.

Fifty National Sample Survey Organisation teams are already at the rehabilitation sites collecting rehab data and transferring it to Delhi from a control room set up at Narmada Control Authority office here. The Oversight Group, according to information, will stay in Indore division till this Sunday.
