Sickness aid fund hiked by Rs 2 cr

THE STATE Government has made a provision of Rs 5 crore in the State sickness assistance fund this year, increasing it by almost Rs 2 crore from the last financial year.

THE STATE Government has made a provision of Rs 5 crore in the State sickness assistance fund this year, increasing it by almost Rs 2 crore from the last financial year.

The fund would be granted for treatment of 16 identified diseases in place of 13 listed earlier. An amount of Rs 2.66 crore would be available under district sickness assistance funds whereas Rs 2.34 crore have been kept reserved for State-level committee.

An additional amount of Rs 1,92,83000 has been provided over the budgets of the financial year 2004-05 and 2005-06. Three diseases related to brain, neuro surgery, and MDR have been included along with the earlier identified diseases related to cancer surgery, renal surgery, knee replacement, breast surgery, hip replacement, surgery related to head injury, parts transplantation, spinal surgery, post childbirth complications, coma, retinal detachment, heart surgery, industrial accidents, bomb explosion, natural calamities and accidents caused by agricultural equipments.
