Sidhu, who was accompanied by former law minister and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) colleague Arun Jaitley and a battery of top lawyers from Delhi and Chandigarh, was whisked inside the high court premises as soon as he arrived.

The former MP from Amritsar was on Friday convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for causing the death of 65-year-old Gurnam Singh in Patiala town in a road rage case in 1988.

His friend RS Sandhu was also convicted for the same offence.

There was heavy security in and around the high court complex where a bench of Justices Mehtab Singh Gill and Baldev Singh will pronounce the sentence for the high profile case.
