Pointing out that Pakistan has its own attitude towards tackling militancy, Union Minister Farooq Abdullah said on Thursday the present situation was not conducive for re-starting Indo-Pak dialogue.
"There has been an attack on our mission in Afghanistan after the Mumbai terror attack last year", he said, adding the militancy was also going on in Jammu and Kashmir and armed militants infiltrating from across the border.
"Under these circumstances, the situation is not conducive for us to hold talks with Pakistan", Abdullah, who is also President of the state's ruling National Conference, told reporters during his visit to Chenab textile mills in Kathua.
Pakistan, he said, has its own attitude towards tackling militancy, as indicated by the arrest of Mumbai attack mastermind Sayeed Hafiz and his release subsequently.
Despite India having produced evidence against the mastermind of Mumbai attack, Pakistan has not taken any concrete action against him, Abdullah said and added Pakistan "has also not learnt a lesson with militancy having spread on its own soil".
