Six Bangladeshi peacekeepers were killed and 12 seriously injured in a road accident in Ivory Coast, the country's armed forces said on Saturday.
The peacekeepers were travelling to the capital Abidjan when their military truck spun out of control late on Friday, killing five soldiers on the spot, the Bangladesh armed forces said in a statement.
Thirteen seriously injured soldiers were rushed to a local hospital where another soldier died, it said, adding two of the injured were in critical condition.
Bangladesh has the world's largest number of UN peacekeepers, with nearly 12,000 soldiers carrying out peacekeeping duties across the globe.
Among them, some 3,560 soldiers have been deployed in the war-torn West African nation
Ivory Coast, once an economic powerhouse and bastion of stability in West Africa, has been split between the government-controlled south and rebel-held north since a failed coup to oust President Laurent Gbagbo in September 2002.
