Six fake Naxalities arrested from Medak

A five-member gang of fake Naxalites, who allegedly tried to extort Rs 6 lakh from a villager was today arrested, police said.

A five-member gang of fake Naxalites, who allegedly tried to extort Rs 6 lakh from a villager was today arrested, police said.

The gang members were trying to extort money from a person in a village in Ramayampet of Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, they said.

The gang members had earlier taken away some gold and silver ornaments from the person, who is a shepherd and a resident of Konapally village and later demanded Rs 6 lakh after posing as Naxalites, police said.

Following a complaint, Medak police laid a trap and rounded up the five accused from the village this morning, the police officer added.
