Six people were killed in police firing in western Bangladesh when villagers, protesting inadequate power supply clashed with the security personnel, media reports said on Thursday.
Police, however confirmed only one death in Wednesday's clashes.
Kansat has been witnessing violence for several months and with Wednesday's incident, the death toll has gone up to 19 since the start of the campaign for cheaper and more reliable electricity supplies for crop irrigation.
Government officials said the demands of the Kansat residents have been met and asked them to solve any other issue through talks.
Police also raided houses of troublemakers in Kansat in western Chapainawabganj district, media reports said.
The situation was very tense after Wednesday's police firing, they said.
