Six labourers were killed when the truck in which they were travelling overturned near Konni town in the district late Saturday night.

The labourers were proceeding to an estate with material for tarring a road inside the plantation, police said.

The mishap occurred when the driver lost control of the truck and the vehicle overturned and fell into gutter with the tar barrels crashing down on the workers.

The workers had come from Kollam district.
