The driver, Manoj, will undergo the lie-detector test on December 4 and 5 in Delhi, Deputy Inspector General of Police Jai Narain Singh said. He claimed that Manoj kept on "misleading" the police about the sequence of events leading to the murder during his interrogation.

A local court ordered him to undergo a lie-detector test.

The court passed the order while admitting an application filed by police stating that Manoj claimed that on November 15, a pit on the road had made him slam the brakes of the car suddenly after which the assailants who were following the former MP in another vehicle shot dead the 60-year-old leader.

Investigations revealed no pits on the road where the incident had occurred, police said in the application and added that Manoj had not informed the police immediately after Singh was killed.
