The SN Children Hospital administration has been forced to close down two wards and also stop surgeries due to most of the hospital’s senior doctors proceeding on annual leave at the same time.
As many as five doctors posted at the SN Children Hospital including the chief medical superintendent Dr MP Singh have reportedly gone on a long leave due to which routine functioning has been affected. Two wards have closed and surgeries have also stopped at the hospital. Most of the surgery cases are being referred to the other hospitals as the only paediatric surgeon Dr Rehman is also reportedly on leave.
Besides Dr Rehman, head of paediatric department Dr Rajiv Saran, Dr AK Srivastava and Dr R Rai have also proceeded on a long leave at the same time.
However, Dr PC Mishra was also on a leave from the last some time and he joined back on Thursday only. “Dr Rai has probably gone to attend some training programme. Due to staff crisis the ward number 1 and 2 have been closed down.

There is no posting of paediatrician at the Beli and Colvin Hospital and the parents are forced to admit their children at the SN Children Hospital, which is a paediatric wing MLN Medical College.
Despite repeated attempts the MLN Medical College principal could not be contacted for comments.
Meanwhile, an obesity blood pressure and diabetes detection camp would be organised by the Bengali Social and Cultural Association at residence of Dr Milan Mukherjee, Malviya Road (George Town) on June 4 from 8 am to 12 noon.
