An Indian Army soldier was killed and 24 wounded when terrorists ambushed their convoy near a village in the north Kashmir town of Handwara on Thursday afternoon.

Police said armed terrorists hurled hand grenades and sprayed bullets at the passing army convoy at village Chottipur near Handwara town, 90 km from here. Two civilians were also injured in the incident.
"One army trooper died on the spot. Eleven army men and two civilians were injured in the attack. Three critically injured soldiers were airlifted to the army base hospital in Srinagar for treatment," a senior police official said.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the convoy attack.
In separate incidents on Thursday, ten terrorists and an army man were killed in two gun battles in the north Kashmir border districts of Baramulla and Kupwara.
