A private plane carrying Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and Finance Minister P Chidambaram from Delhi to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday made an emergency landing in Bangalore after one of its engines developed a snag, airport sources in Bangalore said.

"It was a GMR plane. It made a priority landing because of some problem in its right engine," a source said.
Another plane was chartered for Gandhi to fly to Tamil Nadu, a state Congress party leader said. Gandhi was to address a public meeting in Erode. She was to land in Coimbatore and drive down to Erode.
