Congress president Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi with lower respiratory tract infection (mostly caused due to pneumonia or bronchitis) on Thursday evening.
She is under the treatment of Dr Arup Kumar Basu, who is a senior consultant in the department of chest medicine at the hospital. According to hospital sources, her condition is stable and is under observation. "There is nothing to worry as this is a common problem during winters," said a doctor at the hospital.
"She has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here for further treatment of the infection," AICC general secretary Ajay Maken told PTI.
The symptoms of lower respiratory tract infection are fever, cough, breathlessness, weakness and loss of appetite.
