Sonia, Rahul Gandhi follow PM, adopt villages

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi have adopted a village each in their respective constituencies under the 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi have adopted a village each in their respective constituencies under the 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.

While Sonia has adopted Udwa village in Jagatpur block of her Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency, Rahul has selected Deeh village in Jagdishpur block of Amethi parliamentary constituency to be developed as model villages.

All Congress MPs have been directed to adopt a village each. "No doubt, this is a BJP government scheme but why should the people suffer. We don't believe in petty politics," a senior Congress functionary said.
