On May 31, burglars struck at three houses in Block I and decamped with jewellery worth R5 lakh. The residents claim they are charged a “hefty amount” by Unitech for security services, which have been sub-contracted to Skyguard Security Services Private Ltd.

“The number of guards posted is only a small fraction of what is shown in the register,” said RWA joint secretary Dr Jai Bhagwan.

“When we approached the security control room, we were appalled to see that it was not manned by anyone. There are no provisions for providing emergency help,” added Bhagwan, whose house was also looted.

“The policemen hardly conduct any patrolling. We have requested the joint commissioner to increase security in our area,” RWA president NK Malik said. Joint commissioner Anil Rao said, “We have increased patrolling in the area. I have directed the SHO to meet the security in-charge and post guards at the right places.”
