Taking serious view of anti-party activities, the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday sacked Samajwadi Party MLA from Bidhoona (Auraiyya) Pramod Gupta for six years.
Gupta had issued statements against the party on Thursday, claiming that law and order has worsened in the present regime.
Gupta, a close relative of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's family, is the first MLA to face disciplinary action. In the house of 403 there are 224 SP MLAs.
The party spokesman Rajendra Chuadhury said that Akhilesh had dismissed Gupta from the party because of gross indiscipline and anti-party activities.
After attending district rural development authority (DRDA) meeting in Auraiyya on Thursday Gupta had threatened to resign from the assembly membership if law and order situation was not improved in Bidhoona.
Gupta's dismissal from the party has alarmed other SP MLAs who off late become quite vocal against the functioning of the state government.
On Wednesday another MLA Hemraj Verma from Barkheda (Pilibhit) had walked out of the district plan meeting chaired by Panchayat minister Balram Yadav. Verma had accused the district officers of ignoring the legislators and district panchayat members.
Similarly SP MLA Mohammad Ziauddin Rizvi from Sikandarpur (Ballia) had earlier this week alleged large-scale corruption among civil and police officers.
