"I won't tell how many seats have been sought by Congress and how many we will give them. SP is trying its best to finalise the alliance with Congress at the earliest," Yadav told reporters here.

Amid uncertainties in the SP-Congress seat sharing exercise, Yadav today announced Mitrasen Yadav as the party candidate from Faizabad. With this, SP has now announced candidates for 60 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP.

Incidentally, Mitrasen Yadav had been elected as BSP MP from Faizabad in 2004.

The move, aimed at pressurising Congress into finalising the tally of seats it wants to contest from in UP, could hasten the conclusion of talks between the two parties.

On his next meeting Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Yadav said, "I will meet her when the need arises. This is something between us, why should I tell the media about it."
