AS PART of their ongoing agitation against the proposed hike in the prices of petroleum products, the activists of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha staged a dharna at the office of the district magistrate and handed over a six-point charter of demands to the city magistrate to be forwarded to the President. They demanded withdrawal of proposed price hike in petroleum products and the FIR lodged by the Election Commission against PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav.

Presiding over the dharna Devendra Bhushan Nishad, Sanjay Yadav and Rajesh Singh Sainthwar said that after the formation of the Congress-led UPA Government, the prices of essential commodities shot up without any check.
They said that the anti people policies of the Congress-led government and their bias attitude towards the SP-led state government compounded the problems.
They demanded special economic package for UP as per demand of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and criticised the Union Government for adopting double standard in allocation of power to different states.
They said import of wheat in name of low wheat production was a conspiracy to damage the farmers.
SP leader Rajnish Yadav, Sadhu Yadav, Nawab Khan and others said the SP would not allow the Union Government to enhance the prices of petroleum products.
He also said that their agitation would continue till the proposed hike in prices of petroleum products is withdrawn.
