Deepak Chopra, doctor, healer, spiritual guide, poet and now a man in possession of the key to ‘Unlock the Hidden Dimensions of the Consciousness’. At a countrywide lecture series, Chopra will employ this latest talent starting in Mumbai on March 26.
That Chopra’s visit coincides with the downturn, communal tensions, and ecological disasters is happenstance.
“These are expressions of spiritual bankruptcy. It is manifesting all over the world. But if we can move to a new level of consciousness and create an opportunity there, there can be a solution,” said Chopra, providing a preview of the wisdoms the lecture would offer.
The author of 55 books (Chopra is partial to details) on wellness, spirituality and alternate medicine, Chopra regards himself as a teenager trying to figure out future ambitions than revel in the lofty titles of leader, guide and healer conferred on him. “Labels allow no room for possibility. It’s like being boxed in a coffin. The evolution of our being,
awareness, and consciousness are topics with never ending horizons, there’s always more to be discovered,” said Chopra.
Spiritual guru to Hollywood stars, Chopra is at home in New York, but vouches that his writing has roots in ancient Indian wisdom and traditions. “I derive plenty from the Upanishads. In India there is an assumption by the middle classes and the well educated that they know it all. But spirituality is confused with ritual and dogma. I find it difficult to introduce my ideas here. I never insert myself in a situation where people are not already enthusiastic,” the 62-year-old said.

{{/usCountry}}At the lecture, the chairman and co-founder of The Chopra Center for Wellbeing in Carlsbad, California, will initiate an exploration of the mechanics of reality making and address questions the likes of how can I transform myself, how can I make a better world, and is it possible to create world peace.
“My last lecture series in India was on leadership. I travel the world to do this. The war on terrorism, radical poverty and social injustices are a sad commentary on human consciousness. It’s sad that in India people are still enamoured by new age writers when they have access to authentic wisdom in their own homes,” he rued.
