This 50-year-old shop is an institution in Kamala Nagar. And its USP is that everything is made with pure ghee and no onion or garlic is allowed into the shop. There's no seating here, but the owners now plan to make room for chairs and tables. Banke Behari owes its reputation to its spongy Rasgullas (Rs 4 apiece), Rasmalai (Rs 8), Kala Jamun (Rs 6), Raj Bhog (Rs 8), Rabri (Rs 12; 100 gms), Cold Milk (Rs 15 per bottle in summers) and Kadhai Milk (Rs 10 per khullar in winters). For breakfast, order their Kachoris with Aloo Kofta and Chhole (Rs 10 per plate) and wash them down with Lassi (Rs 15 per glass). Sadly, the delicious Nagori Halwa, priced at Rs 100 a kg, is available only during weekends. Banke Behari's thalis, available between 12 noon and 4 p.m. and then from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., are priced at Rs 30 (Shahi Paneer and Dal Makhni) and Rs 50 (a Kadhi and a Rasgulla/Gulab Jamun are added to justify the higher price).
