AN INFLUENTIAL coterie of KDA officials and a powerful Samajwadi Party leader have once again succeeded in forcing the transfer of an honest offer — Kanpur Development Authority vice-chairman Deepak Kumar — barely a few days after assuming full-fledged responsibility.
Kumar was proving a tough nut to crack for corrupt KDA officials and for the SP leader infamous for land grabbing.
In view of the gross irregularities in the allotment of tenders, Kumar had imposed a temporary ban on the allotment of tenders. He had also imposed a ban on the regularisation of plots and optional allotment of plots.
The same coterie of officials and the SP leader are said to be behind the transfer of former KDA V-C Anil Kumar. He had thwarted all the illegal activities of the SP leader and of the coterie. The negative fallout of two subsequent honest V-C’s of KDA is that the IAS officials have expressed their inhibition on posting as KDA V-C.
There is also a widespread resentment among a large section of the KDA officials and employees on the transfer of the two honest V-C’s Anil Kumar and Deepak Kumar at the behest of coterie and the SP leader.

{{/usCountry}}This resentment was clearly evident today when KDA employees, under the banner of Kanpur Vikas Pradhikaran Karamchari Sangh, held a meeting at the KDA campus in protest against the transfer of Deepak Kumar. The agitated employees demanded that the state government must think twice before transferring honest officials of KDA.
President of the Sangh Bachau Singh said the state government must point out black sheep among the honest officials before transferring honest officials.
“All officials must not be labelled as corrupt by the state government and instead corrupt officials must be pointed out and punished,” said Singh.
Union leaders also said that state government employees of thirty-eight government departments in the city have decided to oppose arbitrary decisions of the state government.
It was also decided on the occasion that if the state government does not pay any attention to the demands made by the Sangh then a massive agitation would be staged in the city for which KDA, District Administration and state government would be responsible.
A memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and KDA Secretary was also sent by the union leaders.
